Fundraiser failure: good ideas can be bad ideas
A Goldsville, NC parent advisory council encouraged the public middle school principal to authorize a “cash-for-grades” fundraiser for the students. In exchange for $20, students would receive twenty test points over two tests. The principal did approve it, and it sounds like the fundraiser even got started. The school board was less than thrilled when they got word, and stepped in to override the principal. No points are being awarded, and the money collected from students and parents is being returned.
Sounds like it was a great way to defeat getting an ‘F’ on a spelling test- just wash cars until you can pay it off.
